An Ode to the Dark

In the shadows and their calm
I get my much needed balm
Solitary and pure
No sound or sight to pierce the night
It's kind and warm
As a favorite blanket on
No worldly affairs or following norm
It's in a suspended form
It doesn't demand
It keeps exuding it's surreal moonly charm
It's sparkly skies
It's dense blackness
It's art in all its forms divine

How I wish light was as kind as the dark
The dark dulls down scar, wrinkle and mark
It frees the heart to soar as a dove
Light sees ugly in the unpolished edges of love
It is burdened with feelings of disgust
On impulse it disowns all that it sees as rust
While the dark accepts, coils and wraps
In it's bossom, it embraces owls, snakes and wasps,
For it, even a hiss
Is as gentle as a kiss.

Do you remember?

Do you remember how we texted in songs,
Our inner anguish, sorrow and deep understanding of each other

Do you remember how the roaring waves crashed in the background
of our banter
Or the times we laughed out loud and hard at each other's silly jokes

Remember how we chatted till we fell asleep and texted the first thing in the morning
or how we envied each other's crushes
And burst out at each other for feeling that way for them

Do you recall the photos of my artwork shared
Soaked in your love
Or the chain of poems i wrote for you but never shared

I wish you too would miss what I so dearly hold
Deep in the recesses of my mind
I wish you too text back to my soul as you listen to it's song, some day, I wish you do.
