That day in the woods

Her eyes moist, her heart heavy. She has left her hair open for the first time since he happened to her. She lifts her foot in trepidation as she crosses over the arbitrary line drawn for her, as though it was a natural part of the earth. She realized that now she had to leave. As she took a step forward, there was lightning and thunder. Sweat beads started running down her neck. Yet she moved on. The very next moment she stepped on the slithering grass only to realize a moment later that it's a severe snake bite. She mustered enough courage and mumbled a few chants. Within a second, she was alright. Sita moved along while suddenly a branch of the audumbur fell with a loud thud on the ground. Her foot wasn't spared again. Yet, she did not stop. She moved towards the elusive musk wafting through the breeze dancing to the tune of the arriving monsoon. She moved further and further into the woods, her hair flowing long and the draped cloth undraping itself as she took one step at a time.
Till far away they shine
Those shimmering dunes
Catching the eye as they seem to ripple and rise

Yet long long ago
Just a few droplets trickled on the gold

Under the dark skies
The loudest shrills
Submerged in melodies of  lullabies

The howling of the wind and the rustling of the leaves signalled the lurking of the rains
Frivolous dream
Went back to sleep
In the infinite ocean of calm.

The Cat

Scents fade,
Dreams blurr.
Eyes surprisingly a sparkling jade
She doesn't fail to purr

A slumber so quite,
So numb

Still she tip toes her way into the room
In a clumsy disarray
She lifts the broom
Sweeps all the dust away

Her back slowly curls
In an opalescent evening  she lets herself unfurl
Moist whiskers affirm
She is still the same.
